Finding My Super Power Wasn't Easy!

If you’re like most people you too found your self as a young teenager wondering what you were going to do with your life/ career. Wait... doesn't that equally apply to those in their 20’s? 30’s? 40’s? Come to think of it, I know some people in the latter half of their 50’s still figuring out what they REALLY want to do with the remaining time they have on this Earth.

I think the main difference is our expectations about what we SHOULD know, and by when we SHOULD have done something about it. For me, I was not thinking about the future at all until one fateful day when I was 15. I had just been expelled from my 3rd high school (yep 3) and as I walked out of the school gates It hit me like a freight train (they seem heavier than normal trains don’t they?) If I don’t pass my exams, i’ll be unemployable and i’ll have no future. Boom. Now, I put on the tough act as a kid to make it through the jungle I had decided to participate in, but at that moment I ran into a back street just in time for the tears to flood down my cheeks. Something had happened. Something big. And it was a completely new feeling.

Not knowing what I was going to do about it (and yet being an eternal optimist) I knew I had to do something. Suddenly what I had not valued AT ALL (my education) suddenly became my pathway to a compelling future. I had made a decision to do something but wasn't yet sure what. My solution ended up being to involve my dad who negotiated with the school to get me back in on the strictest of conditions including 100% attendance, good grades, and perfect behavior with no second chances.

I was motivated by something big, compelling, and all consuming. A drive to survive had kicked in and it was taking me somewhere. I came in early, stayed late, and spent my lunch breaks with different teachers. I disengaged from my social group and headed home to do homework everyday after school. Within 3 months I went from having no course work (which counted heavily for my grades) to passing my final exams with B’s, C’s and an unfortunate DD (biology was tricky!). I won every award going at the school leaving ceremony and within months had joined The Royal Navy as a Helicopter Technician at the age of 16.

Why am I telling you this? I came to realize later in my career as I racked up achievements that not only seemed unlikely, but hadn't been done before; my super power was my drive, my belief in my abilities against all odds, and my will power to commit to something and overcome whatever stood in my way.

When I was that teenage boy with no hope of a future (which took years of misbehaving to achieve) I made a decision, right then and there, that changed the trajectory of my life. Today, many years later, I have committed myself to helping people of all ages, nationalities, genders, and races, to find their super power. To discover what life could be like if they let go of what holds them back and to decide to go after any future of their choosing. I have committed to achieving excellence in what I do, in my training, my mindset, and my execution of the coaching and therapy work I do.

It can take years to get to the point where you’re ready to change, and only a second to make it happen. I’m here to help you make that decision, take meaningful action, and create a fulfilling future for you and those around you. That’s my story (well some of it!).
